TGS 3rd Grade 2011-12

Dear Parents,
Soon Michelle will contact you regarding our sleepover Wednesday night (June 13). The children will leave school that day as usual and return at 6:00. We will set up a campfire, tents and sleeping bags, etc. and enjoy dinner together, have a very long evening recess, make S’Mores, play flashlight tag, and then have songs and stories* by the campfire. All will be followed by a nice long night of peaceful sleep!!!!! (I am an optimist.) (The school will be open for us to use the bathrooms. If weather requires us to be inside, we will sleep in the classroom and play games there and in the gym.)
On Thursday, June 14, after breakfast clean-up, we will have a very early recess and then do a bit more end-of-the-year clean-up in the classroom. At about 9:00/9:30- ish I am hoping we will enjoy a hike and some time in water, weather permitting, but these plans are still in the making. If you have any suggestions for the latter (keeping in mind that there likely will be very sleep-deprived third graders), please pass them on to me. Regardless of what we do, WE WILL BE AT TGS AT ABOUT 1:30.
Below is a list of items suggested for our Wednesday/Thursday activities. I will make a request of the children to do as much of their own packing as possible-hopefully that is 100%.
Finally, please remember that families are welcome to join us at any time and that parents are NOT required nor expected to come. (I do ask that siblings be accompanied by a parent.) I do realize this is a very busy time of year and it just isn’t possible to do it all. I love this evening as it gives us all a chance to be our best in each other’s company. We will spend time in the classroom discussing just what that looks like and how each of us will contribute to everyone having a fun time.
